PhD
Currently, I have three PhD students – Conny Bailey, Miriam Cady & Rebecca Constabel - two of whom received AHRC funding and Miriam a departmental scholarship. Megan Leyland will start an AHRC-funded CDA with me in October 2011, co-supervised by Professor Roey Sweet. My six successful PhD students so far are Drs Samantha Riches, Sophia Oosterwijk, Guy Sumpter, Ellie Pridgeon, John Clark and the Right Reverend Dr Christopher Herbert. Alexandra Fried is currently writing up. I am always interested to hear from students who would like to undertake a PhD with me, in the fields of medieval, Tudor or early Stuart art and architecture. External Examining at doctoral level. I was an external examiner for a D. Litt degree at the University of Bristol, in 2009. I have examined, as external examiner, at PhD level for: the Warburg Institute, 1989; University of York, 1996; University of Leeds, 2005; University of Manchester, 2009; University of London, 2009; and M.Phil theses: Cambridge Architecture Department, 1987; Glasgow University, 2000 and an APG thesis Cambridge History of Art, 1998.
